After a traumatic incident during his internship, young medical student James Hayman (Namir Smallwood) moves to a rural hospital to start a new life. Seeing that James is struggling and has difficulty connecting with patients, Dr. Harrison (veteran stage and screen actor Michael Potts) suggests that he take a class that focuses on bedside manner and building deeper relationships with patients. The demons of James’ past begin to catch up with him when he becomes engulfed by the case of a young asthmatic patient (Sidney Flanigan, NEVER RARELY SOMETIMES ALWAYS) with mysterious symptoms. His grip on reality begins to falter as disturbing nightmares, anxiety-inducing speculations and physical injuries collide with the brutal realities of the medical world. Director Alex Thompson assembles an ensemble of seasoned character actors for this sequel to SAINT FRANCES and a precursor to GHOSTLIGHT, presenting a humanistic and unconventional take on the genre.
