Business computing is the application of a variety of technologies to business information needs. It is a mix of the fields of business and computer science and may include some aspects advanced computing. Graduates are prepared for careers in the business world working on technical or computing issues or in the IT field.
The course is strongly connected to the work environment and features guest lecturers from business and engineering partners sharing their insights into real-world business issues. You will also be able to develop live briefs that apply your technical knowledge to real-world challenges. Over four years, you will gain a wide variety of IT and business capabilities. From designing software to understanding how to analyse data in order to offer business with innovative solutions.
In the beginning of your studies, you’ll study subjects like marketing and accounting. You will also gain hands-on experience using the latest computing and IT technologies. You will develop your IT and business skills to prepare for your placement year. This can be on campus or in one of our many partner organisations throughout Kent and London. You’ll finish with a unique mix of business and IT knowledge which can lead to various options for careers, including software development and web development customer service, as well as data analytics. Former graduates have worked for companies like Accenture, BP FDM and Spotify.
